Legalization for the PRC is being discontinued

The Consular Section of the PRC in Moscow is no longer accepting documents for legalization!

In 2023 , China signed a law on accession to the Hague Convention. The law enters into force on 7 November 2023 , and therefore documents certified by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs after 6 November will no longer be accepted by the consulate. Documents must now be submitted with an “Apostille” stamp.

Consular legalization is a more complex and expensive procedure than apostille certification, so the new law is excellent news for anyone who would like to save money and time. However, this does not apply if you need to submit an educational diploma, as diplomas also take quite a long time to apostille — from 2 to 45 business days.
